JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator (Forklift / Pettibone) at our New Brighton, MN facility. This position will work W/Th/F from 5:00 am - 3:00 pm.
JOB PURPOSE
Operate the mobile heavy equipment in a careful, safe and efficient manner to move the various products to the different stations at the production plant.
HOURLY PAY RATE
$27.35

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Safely and efficiently operate the mobile heavy equipment machines.
- Load and unload the trams at the treating plant.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks.
- Load and unload inbound and outbound rail cars.
- Move poles to and from the shaving / incising machine.
- Move poles to and from the framing skids.
- Move poles and other products throughout the yard for proper storage.
- Assist in Framers and Laborers on the skids if there are no mobile heavy equipment machines available to operate on a shift.
- Assist the Top Loader in verifying that the proper products are loaded on out bound trucks and rail cars.
- Assist the Top Loader in verifying the count / tally of products loaded on out bound trucks or rail cars.
- Assist the Treating Engineers in verifying the count / tally of products loaded onto and unloaded from the treating trams.
- Operate so as to minimize any damage to products and property of Bell Lumber & Pole its customers, contractors and employees.
HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT DUTIES

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Operating heavy equipment is a plus.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Must possess basic math skills.
- Must be able to safely and effectively operate mobile heavy equipment.
- Must be able to follow the Bell Lumber & Pole Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures for the mobile heavy equipment machines.
- Must have legible handwriting.
- Must be able to read a tape measure properly.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must be able to safely ascend and descend ladders.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to count precisely and accurately and to record numbers correctly.
- Should have good communication skills.
- Must be fluent in English.
- Should be able to work supervised and unsupervised equally well.
- Must be able to properly use and maintain all PPE required for the job.
- Must have good eyesight, and wear corrective lenses if needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to walk, stand, hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as a small equipment cab environment with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, precipitation or toxic fumes. Employee will have steady exposure to noise as heard in a piece of mobile heavy equipment, at times noise levels will exceed safe working levels. Employee will have light exposure to the chemicals and solutions used in treating wood and cleaning the plant. The job may require overtime.
